Rohr: Expect new faces against Algeria

Super Eagles Manager, Gernot Rohr, has revealed that there will be new faces in the team that will face Algeria in the final Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier scheduled to take place on Friday.

Speaking at the team’s camp in Morocco, the coach said the match would afford the players that were not part of the qualifiers to grab starting shirts in national colours.

“This will be an opportunity to see some players who didn’t play much during the qualifiers,” he said.

“Six players are out due to injury, so we will definitely see six changes from what we are used to since the start of the qualifiers.

“It will be very interesting to see these players playing against Algeria who are fired up to win the game as they are playing with a new coach and also in front of their home fans.

“Algeria will be aggressive as they have some of the best players from the continent. The likes of Riyad Mahrez, Islam Slimani and others.”

The coach assured of the players readiness for the game despite having few days for preparation in Morocco.

The former Burkina Faso coach said he was looking forward to a good match and a good result against Algeria while also targeting a good game against Argentina in a friendly game slated for November 14 in Russia.

He added:

“We only have three days to prepare but luckily for us, we had the full complement of our players just the second day of camping.

“It is right we have qualified and the result not really important, but we need to have a good game and good result.

“I am also happy with the game against Argentina because they are one of the best teams in the world. We will surely be having a South American team in our group so this will prepare us for the game.”
